Reddit Analytics for SaaS Founders: The Five Numbers That Matter
Reddit gives you views, upvotes, and comments. It does not give you signups. Here is the five-layer analytics stack that connects a thread to revenue.

Reddit analytics usually means one of two things. Native post insights, which tell you how a post performed on Reddit. Or third-party dashboards, which promise to tell you what Reddit is worth to your business.
The first is free and incomplete. The second is often expensive and still incomplete. Neither connects a comment to a paying customer without work.
This guide covers what Reddit actually measures, what it misses, and the five-layer stack that connects a thread to revenue.
TL;DR
Reddit's native insights show views, upvotes, upvote ratio, comments, and shares. They do not show signups or revenue.
Track five layers: distribution, conversation, profile, click, and conversion.
Use UTM links, a unique landing page, or a signup survey to connect threads to customers.
Optimize for conversations and signups, not upvotes. A high-karma post with no buyers is entertainment.
Review weekly, not hourly. Reddit's numbers move for days.
What Reddit analytics can and cannot tell you
Reddit's native analytics are built for posters, not marketers. They answer "did this post land?" not "did this post make money?"
The Post and Comment Insights view shows upvotes, upvote ratio, replies, views, shares, and awards. Some of that is visible only to you and the moderators. It is useful for judging the post itself. It says nothing about who clicked through, signed up, or paid.
Reddit Ads has a separate dashboard with impressions, clicks, CPC, and spend. That covers paid campaigns, not organic threads.
Everything else is your job. That is not a reason to skip analytics. It is a reason to build a simple stack instead of chasing a perfect dashboard.

If you run a subreddit, the traffic page is worth checking monthly. It shows whether the community is growing or coasting. For most founders, post insights plus your own analytics will do more than any Reddit-native report.
The five-layer analytics stack
Think in layers. Each one answers a different question.

Your product analytics
Most founders stop at layer two. They celebrate a post with 80 upvotes and 40 comments, then wonder why trial signups did not move. The post may have been a great conversation and a poor acquisition asset. Both can be true.
Each layer answers a different question. A gap at any layer breaks the chain to revenue.
The fix is to define the goal before you post. A brand-awareness thread should be judged on views and sentiment. A lead-generation thread should be judged on clicks and signups. Do not use the same scorecard for both.
How to set up attribution without a data team
You need three things: a tagged link, a place to land, and a question at signup.
Change the campaign for each thread cluster. If you answer ten "X alternative" threads, use the same campaign so you can compare the cluster, not just the thread.
2. Send traffic to a specific page
A homepage visit tells you little. A landing page for "X alternative" tells you which thread intent converted. If you do not have a dedicated page, use a blog post that matches the thread and add a clear CTA.
3. Ask at signup
Add an optional "How did you hear about us?" field with Reddit as an option. Self-reported attribution is imperfect, but it catches the dark social that UTMs miss.
For a small product, this is enough. You do not need a CDP. You need one spreadsheet and the discipline to fill it in.

Do more of that intent
Do not check every hour. Reddit's ranking changes over days, and early numbers are noisy. A weekly review is enough to spot a pattern.

The thresholds are starting points, not industry benchmarks. Compare each post to your own baseline. A small subreddit with 3,000 members can produce more customers than a 300,000-member subreddit where your post gets buried.
Common mistakes
Optimizing for upvotes. Upvotes measure agreement, not buying intent. A funny post can win the day and sell nothing.
Ignoring comments. The buying signal is often in a reply, not the post. Read every comment on a thread you care about.
No UTM tags. Without tags, Reddit traffic lands in "direct" or "referral" and you learn nothing.
Last-click attribution. A founder may see your comment on Monday, search your brand on Wednesday, and sign up on Friday. Last-click gives Reddit nothing. Use a first-touch question or a longer lookback.
Comparing subreddits. A post in r/SaaS and a post in r/startups are different products. Compare within a community, not across.
Checking hourly. Early votes are noisy. Give a post 48 hours before you judge it.

The tool matters less than the habit. A free post insights page plus a UTM spreadsheet will beat a $200 dashboard you open once.
Xoru's analytics view pulls replies, clicks, and signups into one place so you can see which conversations produced customers. It is not a replacement for your product analytics. It is the bridge between the thread and the trial. The pricing page has the plan limits.
FAQ
How do I view Reddit analytics?
Open your post and tap "Insights" on the post or comment. You will see views, upvotes, upvote ratio, replies, shares, and awards. Some metrics are visible only to you and the moderators.
Does Reddit have a built-in analytics dashboard?
Not for organic marketing. Post and comment insights are per item. Subreddit traffic pages are available to moderators. Reddit Ads Manager covers paid campaigns only.
How do I track signups from Reddit?
Use UTM-tagged links, a dedicated landing page, and a "How did you hear about us?" field at signup. Together they cover most of the gap that Reddit's native data leaves.
What is a good upvote ratio on Reddit?
There is no universal number. Above 80% is usually healthy. Below 60% suggests the community did not like the post or the timing. Compare against your own previous posts in the same subreddit.
Are Reddit analytics tools worth paying for?
Only if you run multiple channels and need team reporting. For a solo founder, native insights plus UTM tracking covers the basics. Pay for a tool when the manual work costs more than the subscription.
Karma is not a vanity score. It is a gate. Some subreddits will not let you post without it. Here is how much you actually need and how to earn it without farming.
